Alert 1: Fraudulent Emails

Security Alert - 10-24-25

Florida Sound Engineering Company Inc. recently identified a phishing attempt involving fraudulent emails sent from a lookalike domain: @florida-sound.com (with a hyphen). These messages falsely referenced invoices and payment instructions, attempting to impersonate our company and mislead recipients. The message used the name of one of our team members and the typical signature format of his email. The message stated the need for the customer to change their payments to reflect a new bank. You guessed it, we have not changed banks.

Upon discovery, we took immediate action to protect our customers and partners:

  • Verified the source of the fraudulent domain and confirmed it is not affiliated with Florida Sound.
  • Published a public alert on our website to inform and protect our community.
  • Reported the domain to the appropriate registrar and cybersecurity partners for investigation and takedown.
  • Strengthened our domain monitoring and verified/updated email authentication protocols.
  • Provided guidance on how to identify legitimate communications from Florida Sound and report suspicious messages.

Florida Sound will only contact you using email addresses ending in @floridasound.com (no hyphen). Legitimate messages will never request sensitive information like passwords or payment details without prior context.

Tip: Check the sender’s domain carefully. You can copy the domain name and paste in a "who is" database lookup to see how long it has been registered. Floridasound.com dates back to 1998. Newly registered domains are a major flag something is wrong. Check domain information here.

Alert 2: Two-factor authentication (2FA) is now required

Security Notice - 10-14-25

Our login page is being targeted by automated attacks using leaked credentials from unrelated breaches. While existing safeguards help block these attempts, the risk of a successful illegitimate login still remains. To protect your account, two-factor authentication (2FA) is now required for all users. This will remain in place until we transition fully to passkeys. Thank you for helping keep Florida Sound secure!

The chart shows Cloudflare security statistics from a single 24-hour period (12/1/25)—over 2,000 attack attempts against our site.

Only 9% of login traffic was not mitigated by Cloudflare. And some of that was humans and crafty bots trying leaked credentials. Yikes.

Recent Website & Email Security Enhancements

We take a layered approach to security—combining proactive email defenses, verified domain protections, malware scanning, and bot management. These enhancements are designed to strengthen the integrity of our communications, protect customer data, and reinforce trust across every interaction.

Here are some of the recent steps we’ve taken to strengthen the security of our website and email systems:

MTA STS and DNSSEC badge

MTA‑STS Email Protection & DNSSEC Domain Security

Encrypted email delivery and verified DNS records help prevent tampering, spoofing, and interception

To further safeguard customer information, we’ve added two important security upgrades. MTA‑STS ensures that our email is delivered using encrypted, authenticated connections—reducing the risk of interception or tampering. DNSSEC adds verification to our domain’s DNS records, helping prevent spoofing and unauthorized changes. Together, these enhancements strengthen the integrity of our communications and reinforce our commitment to your privacy and protection.

Email Security Strengthing Badge

Proactive Email Defense

Our email safeguards are continuously updated to stay ahead of evolving threats and phishing tactics

For many years, Florida Sound has invested heavily in email security to protect both our employees and our customers. Our safeguards already exceed what most small to medium‑sized businesses deploy, but we refuse to become complacent. Threat actors continually evolve their tactics, and we continually strengthen our defenses to stay ahead of them.

Malware Active Scanning Badge

Florida Sound's Website has Active Malware Scanning

Daily scans and Google Safe Browsing monitoring help detect and block malicious activity before it reaches users

To better protect our customers and reputation, we have recently added active malware scanning to our website. This also includes monitoring Google Safe Browsing. Our multifaceted approach shows our commitment to your privacy and protection.

Better Bot Management Badge

Better Bot Management

Intelligent filtering through Cloudflare helps prevent spam, scraping, and automated attacks that could compromise privacy or performance

Bots can be good, like legitimate search and security providers. But many are bombarding our site looking for a way to steal information or compromise our systems for other nefarious activities. This can cause a lethargic website, privacy concerns, receiving contact form spam, or even ransomware attacks.

We continually evaluate and enhance our security posture to protect our customers, our team, and our reputation.

RELIABLE LONGEVITY

Florida Sound has been around longer than ANY local competitor.

Yes, it's true. But you may ask, "Why does it matter?" Consider the economic upheavals of the last 50+ years. We have demonstrated stability and genuine care for our customers, unlike others who have come and gone. You want a quality audiovisual system that will last and adapt to changing technology. You also want to know the company you use won't "disappear" in the middle of an installation. Then choose a licensed Certified Specialty Contractor that is here to stay.
